Varamahalakshmi Pooja is an important Hindu festival dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi. During this festival, women observe fast and decorate the holy Kalasa (a silver chombu or kudam), with mango leaves and flowers and gold ornaments. It is quite common now to even have the Goddess’ face also fixed to the Kalasa with beautiful saree also draped, which gives the exact look of the goddess.
